Potato and Lemon Mask

In order to reduce oil and treat acne, you can also apply this DIY potato face pack. Indeed, lemon is rich in Vitamin C and has high acidity, which helps fade dark spots and acne scars effectively. So, a lemon and potato mask is helpful to enhance the acne treatment effect, remove excess oil, unclog pores, prevent acne, and even tone the skin.

Method:

  • Peel and clean 1 potato, then extract its juice.
  • Pour the juice into a bowl and add 1/2 of the lemon juice, mixing well.
  • After cleansing your face, apply the mixture evenly to your face and neck, then leave it on for about 15 minutes before washing your face with clean water.

Potato and Olive Oil

You can also try another homemade potato face mask for acne treatment, which has two ingredients. Olive oil contains nutrients that are good to prevent skin aging. It also provides moisture, skin brightening, and especially supports anti-inflammatory properties and reduces swelling. Hence, the paste of olive oil and potato will become smoother and younger.

Steps:

  • Peel and clean 1 potato, boil it, then mash it.
  • Add 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil and mix it into a smooth paste.
  • Apply the mixture to your clean face and leave it on for 15 minutes, then rinse with water.

Precautions

When using potatoes for skin care, there are a few things to keep in mind to achieve the desired results.

  1. Always patch a test before applying any new remedies to make sure these approaches are suitable with your skin condition.
  2. Apply potato face pack about 2-3 times a week for the best results. You should not apply the potato mask every day; otherwise, it may cause thinning of the skin.
  3. Always protect your skin carefully with sunscreen before going outside or working on screen to avoid sun exposure.
  4. It is best to apply the mask in the evening, as this is the ideal time for your skin to absorb the nutrients in the acne treatment mask.
  5. If you experience redness, itching, or more breakouts after using the potato mask, stop using it immediately and consult a dermatologist for a professional examination.
  6. If you have sensitive skin, it is better to use boiled potatoes, as raw potatoes may cause irritation to your skin. For other skin types, you should use raw potatoes, peeling and washing them thoroughly to remove the sap, as raw potatoes help retain all of their nutrients.
  7. Do not store raw potatoes in the refrigerator, as the starch in the potato will convert into sugar, reducing its acne-fighting and skin-nourishing effects. On the other hand, boiled or steamed potatoes can only be stored in the refrigerator for 3-5 days; do not freeze them or leave them for too long before use.

Bottom line

Adding a DIY potato face pack to your skin care routine can be an excellent way to treat acne naturally and improve your complexion. You can use potato juice, mix it with honey, or blend it with other products such as turmeric and milk. The choice is yours. Just be sure to heed the tips and warnings for optimal results, and be patient while you allow the healing qualities of potatoes to work their magic on your skin.

Homemade Beer Face Masks

DIY Beer Face Masks For Acne Treatment

Beer is originally made from grains, which is why many people use it for beauty—it’s truly excellent for the skin. Using beer as a facial cleanser or combining it with natural ingredients to treat acne is an extremely simple and easy method. The following are 5 homemade beer face masks for acne treatment.

Homemade Beer Face Masks For Acne Treatment

 1. Beer

The first of the homemade beer face masks requires only one ingredient. You can wash your face with beer to treat acne daily. It is the simplest and most popular skincare tip that you can apply for brightening and smoothing the skin while also treating acne effectively. By washing your face directly with beer, your skin can absorb all the nutrients in beer, which helps improve the skin tone significantly.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of fresh beer.

Instructions:

  • Let the beer sit for about 10 to 12 hours to reduce the alcohol and carbonation.
  • Use a cotton pad and soak it in the beer for about 2 minutes.
  • Apply the soaked cotton pad to your face, avoiding the eye and mouth areas.
  • Soak the cotton pad in beer again for about 1 minute, then apply it to your face for about 5 minutes.
  • Rinse with cool water to close the pores.

2. Beer and Plain Yogurt (unsweetened):

If you have sensitive skin, you should apply a beer mask combined with unsweetened yogurt to treat acne effectively. Yogurt contains nutrients that soothe the skin without any irritation. Additionally, these nutrients provide vitamins that help brighten and strengthen the skin, especially in treating acne.

Ingredients:

  • Beer: 3 tablespoons
  • Unsweetened yogurt: 2 tablespoons

Instructions:

  • Mix the beer and unsweetened yogurt in a bowl, stirring until the mixture becomes smooth.
  • Cleanse your face with a facial cleanser, then apply the mixture evenly on your skin.
  • Leave it on for about 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse with cool water.
  • Continue with your skincare routine.

3. Honey and Beer

The homemade beer face masks can help treat acne and reduce inflammation for dry skin.

Honey contains many amino acids and vitamins that are very effective in destroying acne and deeply cleansing the skin that was once acne-prone. Furthermore, honey helps slow down the activity and growth of bacteria, removing dirt and oil deep inside the pores. When combined with beer, it helps balance the moisture for the skin, preventing it from becoming dry.

Ingredients:

  • Beer: 2 tablespoons
  • Honey: 2 tablespoons

Instructions:

  • Mix the two ingredients together.
  • Cleanse your face thoroughly with warm water, then apply the mixture to your face and gently massage to allow the nutrients to absorb.
  • After about 15 to 20 minutes, rinse with cool water.
  • Continue with your skincare routine.

  • Step 3: Apply sunscreen.

Diet and Lifestyle

Foods That Help With Collagen Production

Foods That Help With Collagen Production

In today’s fast-paced world, it is harder than ever to maintain a youthful glow. Collagen, the most abundant protein in our bodies, is the key to healthy skin, hair, nails, and joints. While our bodies naturally produce collagen, this production declines as we age. Therefore, it is essential to include collagen-boosting foods in our diets. In today’s blog, we’re going to dive into top foods that help with collagen production.

Eat Your Way to Ageless Skin: Foods That Help With Collagen Production

Chicken

Chicken is full of connective tissues. These tissues make chicken a rich source of dietary collagen. Collagen content varies throughout the chicken, though. For example, the thigh meat contains more collagen than breast meat. So, you can consider adding chicken to your diet as one of the top foods that help with collagen production. Indeed, when you eat chicken, your body can break down the required amino acids, which will help in the production of collagen.

Egg Whites

Egg whites are rich in proteins. In particular, they contain proline, an amino acid necessary for the synthesis of collagen. Adding egg whites to your diet will help you have elastic and firm skin.

Citrus Fruits

The citrus fruits include oranges, lemons, and grapefruits. These fruits are high in vitamin C, a significant stimulant in the synthesis of collagen. It is said to help facilitate the change from amino acids to collagen. Therefore, their consumption can significantly boost the production of collagen.

Tropical Fruits

Other foods that help with collagen production can’t overlook tropical fruits. Mangoes, kiwis, pineapples, and guavas are rich in vitamin C. This vitamin is essential for the synthesis of collagen. In addition, these fruits hydrate and provide other nutrients that promote healthy skin.

Berries

Those fruits are also natural collagen booster foods. Berries such as strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries are rich in antioxidants. They work by neutralizing free radicals that damage the skin. As a result, they support the collagen structure already present in the body.

Garlic

This vegetable is rich in sulfur, one of the trace minerals that synthesizes and prevents the breakdown of collagen. Garlic should be eaten in moderation, though. When consumed in regular amounts, it’s not toxic, but too much can lead to heartburn and stomach upset. More so, those on blood thinner medication should limit or avoid garlic as it promotes excessive bleeding.

Leafy Greens

Some leafy greens, such as spinach, kale, and Swiss chard, are very rich in vitamins A and C. These two vitamins play an important role in collagen production. These greens are also full of antioxidants that will protect your skin even more. Some studies have shown that consuming chlorophyll increases the precursor to collagen in the skin.

Beans

Beans are a good plant-based protein that contains lysine, an amino acid responsible for collagen production. Additionally, many beans are rich in copper, another nutrient necessary for collagen production. In short, eating beans can contribute to healthy skin and life.

Cashews

Cashews are rich in zinc and copper. Both are essential minerals responsible for collagen formation in the human body. This way, eating cashews often could be the most delicious method to increase your levels of collagen in the body.

Tomatoes

Other foods that help with collagen production include tomatoes. Lycopene, an antioxidant in tomatoes, has the capability to produce collagen. Lycopene provides supplementary protection against skin damage. Having tomatoes in your diet can provide two benefits for good skin.

Bell Peppers

Bell peppers, the red and yellow especially, are high in vitamin C. Such a vitamin is an essential ingredient in making collagen. Consuming these peppers helps support the human body’s collagen production and the quality of the skin.

Bottom line

Incorporation of these foods in your diet can certainly boost collagen production on a large scale. Nonetheless, before making significant changes in your diet, always consult a doctor for advice. Besides, don’t overconsume these just for the sake of collagen, as an overload might lead to certain side effects. Equilibrium is the secret to maintaining a healthy and dynamic lifestyle.

Note that some require avoiding a list of foods for either allergy or medication. Consult with a health care provider to determine which, if any, are safe to consume. Also, some remedies have pre-treatment tests that are needed before using them.
